If you are a tv-series addicted like me, you know how hard it is to choose what to watch or to pick up only one series. For this reason, I have decided to give you the top 5 tv series of 2016 divided into categories.



According to me there is no doubt aboutthe Fantasy: Game of Thrones, season 6. Even if the HBO’s series received a lot of criticisms about the duration, I am totally in love with it. The plot, the scene, the costumes and all the post production work are stunning, compared to all the other fantasy series. And the actors? How amazing is Lena Headey? If it wasn’t for the fact that I am a Winter Fell team fan, I think I could have seriously fallen in love with Cercei!

If you haven’t seen this season yet, well hurry up because it might be the most exciting you’ve ever seen.


For the Drama category I have personally chosen Orange is the New Black, season 4.

This Netflix original comedy season has actually been a little bit flat until the last episodes, but I can assure you it is worth. The flashbacks structure of the plot, the return of the first series cast, someone leaving the jail...wait, I’m not going to tell you more. Find it out yourselves!

Now let’s give a bit of suspense to this ranking with my favourite Thriller tv serie: Mr Robot.

It is halfway between Fight Club and a hacker movie, full of monologues, self-analysis and deep criticism to the society. Mr Robot keeps your attention high, through thick and thin: you never know what happens next, you can only suppose. Better than True Detective?

At this point you expect I’m going to talk about comedy or musical tv series, but I am sorry, I won’t. This year I have decided to dedicate myself to very deep and sometimes even difficult stories; for this reason I will talk about 11.22.63. It is based on the Stephen King’s novel with an historical-thriller plot and it takes place in the USA just before the assassination of President J.F. Kennedy. The protagonist (the hottest James Franco) tries his best to change history, solving probably the biggest mystery in the 20th century, but time runs against him.

This is definitely the tv serie you have to watch if you want to know how the world ends.

I cannot overlook the actual phenomenon of this summer: Stranger Things. The vibes inspired by Steven Spielberg's and David Lynch's movies perfectly match a story wrapped in mystery and adventure, which an extraordinary cast makes even more special.

Last but not least I reserved a spot for a made-in-Italy series, probably the greatest in the last few years, Gomorra (yes, I think it is even better than 1992 and also the numbers prove it... #sorrynotsorry). Actually the season 2, with 12 episodes took the production two entire years to carry through with it. Everyone likes it because it describes the realsituation in Scampia (a neighborhood in Naples) and above all because it doesn’t even try to “humanize” the Camorra, but it presents it as it is. If you are impressionable, prepare your eyes but especially your heart.
